it's a blog hop!

welcome to the first stop
on the eclecticPaperie blog hop...

I was honored to be invited to join the fun...

below is the project I created...

it's Lucy with a reminder that

love is fragile...
handle with care!

grab your supplies so you can play along...

the base is the base from the art parts large square frame...
it's 5 1/2 inches square...
a 5 1/2 inch art parts scallop...
a small 4 petal art parts flower...

these stamps...
polka dot border

and these Blossom Bucket goodies...
a short black metal corner
the brand new Blossom Bucket gold/silver flower

I used these distress stains...

and these distress markers...
picket fence, brushed corduroy, wild honey,
barn door & tumbled glass

these distress ink pads...

from Ranger...
jet black & coffee archival
clear embossing powder
gold paint dabber
heat tool & craft sheet
Claudine's multi medium (matte) to hold it all together

the misc. extras are...
 a black rhinestone
 something to make Lucy dimensional
(grunge scraps or black pop dots)

ready... set... go...

use jet black archival to stamp the saying twice at the bottom of the base. while wet, sprinkle with clear embossing powder & heat to emboss. repeat at the top of the base

use bundled sage stain to ink the base & dry.
use jet black archival to randomly stamp the honeycomb background over the base

***don't worry about overlapping in the center...
that gets covered up!***

add shading to the edges with brushed corduroy, using the blending tool, then use the gold paint dabber to accent the edges

use jet black to stamp LOVE toward the left side of the sentiment spot, sprinkle with embossing powder & heat to emboss.
use brushed corduroy stain to ink over the sentiment spot & dry

use black soot stain to ink the art part scallop & dry, then stencil thru the stripes stencil with black soot, using the blending tool.

glue the Blossom Bucket metal corner to the scallop as shown. this creates a shelf & a solid base, which allows the art to stand alone.

ink over the heart with tumbled glass stain & dry. use black soot on the blending tool to add dots to the lower heart & stripes to the upper portion of the heart, using the stencil

***tip***
you can make the stripes any length by sliding the stencil & stenciling a larger area

use brushed corduroy on the blending tool to add shading to the heart edges

ink the Lucy face stamp with jet black & press the Lucy art part onto the inked stamp, sprinkle with embossing powder & heat to emboss

***tip***
this is the best way to stamp art parts that have a coordinating stamp. ink the stamp & press the art part ONTO the inked stamp. that makes it easy to get perfect placement

LIGHTLY ink her face with spun sugar & add a bit of blush with barn door on the corner of the blending tool

use the distress markers to color her eyes, lips, hair, hat & clothing

I stamped over the clothing with my polka dots border & jet black archival

***tip***
you can also stamp her clothing onto patterned paper, cut it out & glue it in place for a fun look!

use the picket fence distress marker to make her pearls really stand out

***tip***
you don't see the white (from the marker) immediately...
TRUST that it worked...
it will magically POP in about 15 seconds...
it's...PURE (picket fence) MAGIC!

add accent dots to her hat with the glaze pen

ink the 4 petal flower with wild honey stain, dry & use jet black to stamp the polka dots over the flower,
then accent with a rhinestone

add a bit of coffee archival to the Blossom Bucket heart & dry...
***tip***
I just lightly tap the heart onto the pad, then remove the excess ink with a paper towel.
this is an easy way to add a vintage effect to the Blossom Bucket pieces

ink a text stamp with jet black archival & press the Blossom Bucket heart onto the inked stamp & dry

to assemble...
glue the large base to the Blossom Bucket metal corner...
add the heart to the left side as shown...
add the sentiment spot over the heart...
add some dimension under Lucy to make her stable & glue her in place as shown...
embellish her hat with the BlossomBucket flower and add the cream heart

glue the 4 petal flower to the left side of the heart

here's a better look at how the metal corner holds it together
and makes the solid base

and again...

my favorite
girl...

LUCY...

I hoped you enjoyed my little tutorial...
and that you see art parts are meant to mix & match...
and that they are a really great surface for inks, stains, stamping & stenciling

quick art journal page...

inspired by me?
lol...
sort of...
in a round about way...

actually, I'm working on class kits for this Saturday's art journal workshop & just looking at the kits made me want to stop and make art...

so, since I'm the boss @ studio 490...
I did...

this is a quick journal page that satisfied my
NEED to...

make art...

the background is created with tim's distress stains & Ranger's archival & pigment inks...
on the BEST PAPER EVER...

french ultramarine archival is the beautiful blue
I used for the postmarks...

my tree is a stamp from my second release &
I still love it just as much today as I did a LONGGG time ago...
it's set LCS008...
we're up to LCS095 now...
with 12 new ones coming in January...

I used my dots/stripe stencil with wild honey on a blending tool, to fill in the polka dots...

who said pages MUST be flat?
NOT ME!

this is just one of the background techniques from the class...

ok...

off to finish the kits...

hope to see you in Bloomington at
for a FULL inky technique art journal day...
with a ***SURPRISE***...

Amy always includes a GREAT lunch...
that's REALLY good because...

you gotta have energy for this class...
it's like a marathon boot camp...

I'll be back tomorrow...

I was invited to participate in a blog hop with
eclecticPaperie...

my project is done...
I just need to get the blog post ready...
and the supply list...
and the instructions...
and the photos...
YIKES!

I got a peek at the projects created by the DT...
you WILL be impressed!

I've been thinking of all my friends to the east of me & HOPING that you are all safe, warm & dry...

PLEASE BE SAFE!

Blossom Bucket has ARRIVED!

FINALLY...
let the enabling examples begin...

the silverware fits perfectly in the art parts pitcher...
and the silver flower...
all used over the brick wall stencil...
and the brick wall stamp...
this is the rectangle art parts frame I used...

this is a different use for tim's box corners...
see them?
it's a fun way to add masculine accents & they would fit well with  steampunk/industrial too...

you can also add the swivel clasps
or wire
right thru the holes...
to create a hanging...

star knobs again, as accents...
LOVE Mr Higgins...

this was a blast to create...
Betty is making a statement...
she's wearing a roof hat,
that's embellished with this gold flower...

the whole piece is lightly misted with

to alter the roses
I misted them HEAVILY with PP mist & let it pool, then dried it...
it creates a really pretty vintage worn plaster effect...

same misting of the cream colored heart...
let it pool, then dry to create these dots of shimmer...

yes...
I might have did enable...
BUT...

I went to see THE queen...

and her lovely loyal subjects...

and had a TOTALLY royal
 & wonderful time at

we had 4 full days of inking,
 stamping, stenciling, laughing and playing...
I got to reconnect with friends from past visits and
it was great to meet some blog friends
& make new friends too...

I taught my favorite Ranger inks class 2 days in a row...
I LOVE my job!

I SHOPPED with the Queen...
how many people can say that?
and I got a few things I NEEDED...
yes Rick...
I REALLY did NEED
ANOTHER
vintage black box...

ok...
I *know* ...
I promised more Facebook/Twitter updates...
I really had good intentions...
HONEST!
 I DID!
but these events get so hectic & busy I forget...

so here's what I have to share...

introducing...

 THE QUEEN,
HRH Patti...
she actually got to take my funky art angel class &
here she is with her angel...

these angels turned out totally AWESOME & each was unique...
just like I hoped they would be...
each had a definite personality...
this was so fun...

I wanted everyone in the class to see how cool they turned out...
so we lined them up for everyone to admire...

this is the first group...

sad to say, I didn't get photos of the second group...
sorry!

we had large classes, so HRH rented a vacant store for us...
I didn't want you to see the empty space & think that was the store...
NOPE...
the store is LOADED with goodies...

we spent ALL day Saturday constructing an art journal...
the morning session was the actual journal construction...
we made this...
with LOTS of art parts and my Blossom Bucket resin & metal pieces...
my stamps, stencils & LOTS of distress inks & paints too..

after lunch we worked on the pages...
with each page teaching a specific technique...

the techniques I chose are easily adaptable
to cards, scrapbooks, mini books & mixed media art...
they're not just for journaling...

to say I was THRILLED with their results
 is an understatement...

this was the first time for teaching this class & I was
completely blown away
by all 28 people...
they created seriously AMAZING art...

they were the first to use my *new product*...
but their lips are sealed...

what happens at THE QUEEN'S...
stays at the QUEENS...

but...they LOVED IT...
and they ALL got amazing results...
just as I hoped they would...

my classes are always organized & neat...

ok...maybe NOT NEAT...
YIKES!
it always looks like a bomb went off after the first hour...

I'm so sad that I only took a photo of one journal page...
uggg...
I was so busy admiring them...
I lost my mind...

how's this for SPECTACULAR?

I'm printing instruction sheets for my next journal class...
this is some of what we'll create...

I hope you can join us in Bloomington, Illinois
on Saturday November 3rd...
I CAN NOT WAIT to do this class again...

I'd like to know who is responsible for adding all the things
to my TO*DO list while I was gone...

YIKES...
lots of deadlines are creeping up quickly...

but I want need to take a few minutes to play...

I'll grab this...

so I can...

make art!
wendy

WAIT...don't go yet...
my new Blossom Bucket goodies have ARRIVED & began shipping...
the wait is OVER!!!!!!
I'll be sharing projects next week...
using these new goodies...

if you just heard me squeal...
the guys at the factory just emailed that my new stamps for JANUARY will be here for me to play with
make samples with early next week...
I'm over the moon excited...
a girl can NEVER have enough rubber...
